This made me think of Clifford, only orange.  Of course, I realize it’s probably for Newton North High School, whose colors are orange and black, and whose mascot is the Tigers.  But I still like my idea.

Spotted this display at the hardware store.   I can’t remember the last time I saw Matchbox cars anywhere, though I’m sure there are people out there who are collectors.  At any rate, this made me smile.  Apologies for it being so out of focus.

So it was around 5:00, I needed to make myself a quick and early dinner, so I got out the stuff for a tuna sandwich.  Got the mayo from the fridge and remembered 1) I forgot to buy mayo at the store today, and 2) I hadn’t taken a picture and wasn’t feeling super inspired. So….here you are.  Cinco de Mayo.

I was so proud of  myself for remembering to wear my R2D2 earrings today.  They were a pain in the butt to make, so I hope I never lose them.

We’ve seen and/or heard this red-bellied woodpecker for the last few weeks. Seems he’s made a home here in this tree.
Given that this was taken on a phone camera from across the street, I’m pretty happy with it.

My hairdresser has this set up in her waiting area.  She’s very liberal.  Also very Christian.  She has made statements like “Do you think Jesus gives a shit if you’re gay?  He doesn’t fuckin’ care!”    She cracks me up.

A lot of work got done today, and a lot of it involved wood.  Since it was pouring outside this morning, they did lots of the cutting on the front porch, before moving to the driveway when the weather cleared up.

Went to an ELL teacher workshop today. It was, essentially, about why English is so difficult to learn with all the weird spelling and pronunciation rules.  Here was one thing I’d never heard before: geminates.  Basically, you’re repeating the same consonant, not specifically the letter. I love stuff like this.  Try saying these words aloud.

I know,   I post a photo of the violets every year.  Sue me.  I just really love them. We didn’t plant them, they just appear every spring.

My ELL student and I have been meeting at the local community center, and today was the first time it was nice enough to be on the 3rd floor deck. I looked out at the village center while I waited for her to arrive.
