city elections

Newton’s City Council is far too large.  There are 8 wards, and each has 1 ward councillor, and 2 at-large councillors.  Everyone can vote for all the at-large councillors, but only ward residents can vote for the ward councillor.  Anyway, it’s 24 people (Boston has 12), and it amazes me that anything ever gets done.

goodbye gifts

In spite of the fact that I told them I did not want a send off, my team threw me a non-party anyway.  It featured an activity kit on how to celebrate Alissa (the instructions are under the plaque), a photo book, and a plaque thanking me for my service to the museum (which was really from BCM’s president).  There may have been tears.

leftovers

Got on the train tonight, on an empty car, and there hung this Chinese food container.  Did someone accidentally leave behind their dinner?  Was it full of leftovers for the next passenger?  Was it not food at all, and just a box that someone used to carry stuff?  Was it empty?  We’ll never know, because I sure as hell wasn’t about to open it.
