In the past, Doug has been in charge of the driveway and I’ve been in charge of the walk. If there was too much snow, then to hell with the long back driveway til spring. But because we are trying to sell the house, we need to keep it clear, so we hired a plow service this year.

By next winter, we’d better be dealing with the driveway in our new house. Wherever that may be…

hey look. it’s snowing. and the workers are out, clearing the roads, salting the sidewalks. yadda yadda yadda….

I’m a reader. Ask anyone who knows me, even a little bit, and they will know that I read. A lot. I read all kinds of stuff: mysteries, chick-lit, kids’ books, travel….  But I’m not a book buyer at all. I have been a huge library user for literally as long as I can remember. Going to the library is part of my routine every week, and if I “run out of book” during the week, it’s a crisis.

You can usually count on Whole Foods to have some kind of interesting produce item. These little things caught my eye today. They look like pears with a little butt-crack  on one end. It turns out they are plums. Who knew!

Also worth noting that it’s one month into the project now, and while I’ve had a couple days where I wasn’t thrilled with my choice of subject, I haven’t yet resorted to any of the ideas I’m holding for days when I can’t come up with any good ideas. On to month two!

I’ve usually left work by the time it’s dark enough for these lights to look pretty, but last night I went out to dinner near the museum. This is the view of the Northern Ave bridge while crossing the channel on the Congress St bridge.

Even at work, I’ve got a junk drawer. And it’s got some weird stuff in it:

When you’ve got a few hours of snow followed by freezing rain and rain, then a very cold night, you wake up to a big solid mass of frozen slush. A standard snow shovel will not suffice alone. What you need is some salt, some sun, a regular metal digging shovel, then a snow shovel to remove the chipped ice.  Followed by a massage.

Just last night, Doug and I were saying that we can see how people get frustrated with this project, as we both feel like we’re going to run out of interesting things to photograph.

But then today, there at South Station was a woman dressed in a mosquito costume. Just goes to show ya…

This guy gets to stand outside for a few hours and sell, of all horrid things, the Boston Herald. But at least he’s bundled up for it, and seemed to be in a cheery mood when I spoke to him.
