you wouldn’t think that my workplace would have so much in the way of “sensitive material.” But we do.

gull chicks
There has been a pair of herring gulls nesting on the green roof at work, and at some point over the last few days, the eggs hatched. There are 3 chicks (in the photo, one of them is hiding under mom. or dad. hard to say.) I’m sure I’ll continue to photograph the little grey fuzzballs as they grow and turn into big grey gulls.
it will take a few years for them to come into the adult plumage their parents have, assuming they all make it to adulthood safely.
singing together…sort of
We had a good-bye party after work for a coworker who is moving on, as they say, to new challenges. He’s been supervising the teen workers at the museum for many years now; here’s two of this year’s teens trying to figure out how to sing “Horse with no Name.” Neither of them actually knows the song at all, but it only has like 3 chords in it, and the kid playing the guitar only knows about 3 chords. So there you are.
new mattress
Doug and I bought a new pillow-top mattress recently. Or should I say “dog kennel”?

Boston Adventure
the Boston Society of Spontaneity was at it again today, with an Adventure of Mystery and Danger and Stuff. While it was not my favorite event thus far, it was still fun, and I highly encourage all of you to join me next time.
Here’s Jeff, standing at the gateway to Chinatown, where we were directed to go, trying to decode a secret message on the ground, while listening to further instructions on his cell.
jellyfish
The jellyfish usually appear in the Channel a bit earlier than this, but here they are. Some years there are tons of them, and some there are hardly any and sometimes none at all. These are the common moon jellies, but they’re still neat to see.
Project 365, take 2
Welcome back! And to those who didn’t play along last year–welcome!
So here I go again, trying to take a photo every day for a year. I really missed it these past 6 months and I’m curious to see what I come up with this time around. While my goal is a photo every day, I proved in 2009 that I could do that, so if I do accidentally miss a day, I will not beat myself up over it.
Anyway….here’s the first photo. Me and my Canon, off on a new Adventure.
