The bananas we get from Boston Organics are usually just barely ripe; after a day, they’re perfect for me. Doug likes them more ripe than that. But last week’s bananas were still very green–here they are 5 days later, as compared to some still left from a couple weeks back.

On December 31, we have a “happy Noon year” party for visitors (kids) who won’t be up at midnight. We drop a giant sparkly ball and sing Auld Lang Syne and it’s very cute. At 3:45 today, my colleague learned that the ball was broken. Suddenly, the whole area around his desk was flooded with people from the Education and Exhibits teams, and by 4:45, a new ball was complete. Go, team!

Having Nancy in town is a wonderful excuse to get together for dinner. Much better than going out, we decided. More time to nibble at dessert, sip wine, and enjoy each other’s company.

The guys from the IT department handed out roses today. I left mine in my office, where it is safe from curious kitties.

In spite of having worked in a bookstore for 2 years, where I was often asked to wrap gifts, and in spite of having a dad who’s really good at it, I am easily among the world’s least talented gift wrappers.
