benched
Our front hall doesn’t really have any place to hang coats. I suggested we get one of those bench things with little coat rack on the top–these are called hall trees, I recently learned. Anyway, what we’ve done instead is buy a bench off CraigsList (best thing ever!), and we’ll hang a set of pegs on the wall above. This will do the job just fine, and for a whole lot less cost.

blinds
Went back to the Orange Store for the, what, 87th time this week. This time, I was getting blinds. Our bedroom currently has roman shades, which I don’t love anyway, but certainly not in the awful print they are in. Venetian blinds will allow us to let in the sun, but still maintain privacy.
The man at the store was very nice; this is him measuring and cutting them for me.

decisions…decisions…
clean at last
I don’t think I have ever in my life been so excited about laundry day. We have been unable to wash and dry our clothes since we sold the dryer to our friend Kris, and then we needed a plumber to hook up the new one. But after a week and half, I’ve got clean socks again. Which is a good thing, because I only had one pair left!
Russo’s at last
I’d heard a lot about Russo’s before we moved, and my friend Jen has taken a few pictures of their amazing produce selection. But I was pretty overwhelmed by the vastness; I think I looked a bit like Dorothy when she first steps out of her house into Oz as I wandered around trying to find something as simple as lettuce. I did eventually find it, but not before first finding several fruits and veggies I’ve never heard of before.
stuff you think you need
The Container Store is one of those dangerous places that sells all kinds of cute little organizers and gadgets that you look at and think “oh yeah! I could definitely use that!” I am convinced that they pipe something into the store that affects the brain.
I have come across about 80 extra hangers in the unpacking process so far. Yet I saw these and went, oh they’re so bright and colorful! I should get some!
