the box

Had my pulmonary function tests today. Part of that involves sitting in this sealed box with my hands on my cheeks like the kid in Home Alone, and breathing into a tube. It’s odd.

dog tired

there just seemed to be a whole story here. This pup was with three young men and all their gear. They looked like they’d been traveling for a while. I wondered:  where have they been? are they heading home? has the dog been with them the whole time, or did they pick him up along the way?

regal moth

as you know, I’m not a big fan of insects in general, but I am working with a photographer who is doing a gallery at work; he photographs the caterpillars, but raises them to adulthood and releases them, so he’s familiar with butterflies and moths too. This handsome fellow is a Regal Moth. In his infancy, he was called a Hickory Horned  Devil. Check out the link to see why.

His friend in the background there is a Cecropia silk moth.

new spot

sometimes Parker discovers a spot that he’s never shown much interest in. A while back it was the bench. Lately, it’s been this little shelf we put shoes on. It’s not new or anything, he’s just suddenly discovered it. Funny boy.

sardines

Sardines! Every mornin’ by the riverside
Sardines! See the people standin’ by my side.
Sardines! Every mornin’ when I open the door,
Sardines! See the people they are beggin’ for more.
I got sardines on my plate and I don’t need no steak,
Sardines! Hey! And pork and beans, hey!
Sardines!

pretty wildflower

A few years ago, my mom gave us a bag of random wildflower seeds. We planted it when we moved, not having very high hopes, given the age of the bag. We’ve been pleasantly surprised so far by the variety of flowers we’ve had, including this one.
