It’s nice that our polling place is just a 5 minute walk away.   I was voter #312 this morning.

For her birthday, I took Ali to a “paint nite” program.  I know my artist friends are horrified at this sort of thing, but I have a lot of fun at these.  Here’s Ali, prepared to tackle her blank canvas.

I read about this idea online somewhere….cut eyeholes out of TP tubes, put glowsticks inside, and tuck them in the bushes as a Halloween decoration. 

I love scarves, but I really don’t know what to do with then.  Recently someone told me about scarves.net, and then someone else gave me this pretty scarf.  So I checked the site for ideas and I tied it all by myself!  Gold star for me!

I love the rainbow carrots, they add so much color to a salad.  I was especially pleased to slide open the red one and discover it was yellow inside.

Met my old boss and my old boss’s boss for brunch today.  Of course, now I just call them “friends” and I’m glad we’re still in touch.

Nice try, Russo’s.  But we both know summer is over, and those are definitely not watermelons.

While it’s not completely obvious, this little guy is only about 1/2 ” long.  And only a couple days old. 

Doug is clearly the chef in the house, for which I am always grateful. But I make a pretty competent assistant, especially when it comes to veggie prep.  Tonight I also prepared the “rice.”  Which isn’t really rice, but cauliflower.  Apparently cauliflower rice is very trendy (see link for recipes).  It’s fine, especially for a stir-fry, like we had tonight; you might think it’s some kind of grain you’ve never heard of, but you wouldn’t mistake it for actual rice.

Several years ago, a housesitter we had made this little blue toy for Parker and Winnie.  There was nothing to it, but they absolutely loved it and played with it for years.  Gandalf and Ferrous also enjoyed it, until recently when Ferrous tired of the usual “batting around” play and decided instead that it must be destroyed.
