I finally replaced my workout sneakers. This is my new pair–Rykas, like all my previous workout sneakers. They’re super light and served me just fine at the gym this morning.

In a fast moving storm this afternoon, we had hail for about 2-3 minutes, followed by sideways rain and wind and lots of thunder for about 10 minutes, then just rain and some rumbles for 10 more minutes. And then it was over.

My coworker has a drawer in her file cabinet dedicated to shoes. I know lots of women do this, and it amuses me terribly.

I made a set of wine charms for our trip to the Vineyard. This is how much I enjoy this vacation with my friends–I don’t even drink, and I made wine charms!

solar ovens
At work today we set up some solar ovens for kids to check out. The marshmallows definitely warmed and softened, but I wouldn’t really say they were roasted. Still fun, though.
a concrete idea
It appears they’re making repairs to the platform at South Station. I’m guessing it will stay like this, with only one section completed, for a good long time…until you can no longer tell the difference.
salad bar
Fresh veggies are especially nice in the summer, but salads are a pain in the neck to make. So year ago, we started prepping all the veggies at once, putting them in separate containers, and then pulling them out whenever we want a salad. Allows each of us to custom make it, and it means if one thing goes off, the whole salad isn’t ruined.

Day two of caterpillar-fest. Even though the focus is on the caterpillars, they do, of course, turn into butterflies and moths, so there’s a few of them on hand as well. This is a luna moth. I learned that their long wingtips actually mess up bats’ sonar, making them difficult for bats to catch. Evolution!!
