Sometimes, you spot funny products in small local stores.  This amused me.

…hazel, that is.  I’d kind of forgotten about Prisma, but I messed around with it today.  Fun!  I’ll have to keep this in mind.

Sukkot is the Jewish harvest festival, during which a Sukkah is built: a temporary hut constructed for the holiday, and topped with branches and other autumnal decorations.  Some people build one in their yard, and eat meals there (many people even sleep there).  But I guess if you don’t have a yard, that’s when you call the Sukkah-mobile.

Not the greatest picture, I know, but still kind of cool.  My intent was to take a photo of this hawk as he sat on our back fence, but he flew off just as I took it.

So I peeled on of my steamed eggs this morning, only to discover that, under the shell, it was completely coated in ice.  Weird.

Today was the last day for the local farmers’ market.  I have gone just about every week, and we have been enjoying some nice tasty fresh local food all summer.  Last year, there was a small winter market; I’ll have to keep an eye out for it.

Spent some time at the Arnold Arboretum in JP today, since the weather was so fantastic.  Haven’t been a long long time.  The place is huge; even on a beautiful day when there were many cars parked outside the Arboretum, it was easy to find quiet paths with no one else around.

Spent the afternoon at the originalm  Honk! festival in Davis Square. Super fun. I know there are other Honkfests around the country, and you should totally go if you can. For those of you not familiar with Honk!, check here:

Boston’s green spaces–like the Boston Public Garden (not “Gardens”!)–are like little oases of beauty, while the city is still very much a part of them.

We stopped by the Aquarium a couple times to watch the seals outside.  They mostly were swimming upside down, but would periodically pop up to take a breath and say hi.  I would have loved to also visit the penguins inside, but wasn’t about to pay the expensive entrance fee.  They really should off a “penguins only” ticket.
