I had to go over to the science museum for work today (and yes, I love being able to make statements like that). I had a doc appointment at MGH beforehand, so I walked to the museum by way of the Charles, which was much more pleasant than the traditional street route.

Ashrita Furman holds the Guinness record for fastest hopscotch game, at 1 minute, 8 seconds. He also holds the record for 110 other things, thus making him the record holder for the person with the most records. He clearly needs to make some friends.

You know this sticker is here because some moron drank this torch fuel and then sued. Not a child, who probably couldn’t read what it was, but an adult who really should know better. Or possibly a drunk college student, who thought he’d drink it then spit it out and light it on fire. Yes, that was probably it.

we visited Betsy at her place in Cambridge today. We walked to a nearby diner for brunch, and spotted this rather dramatic building along the way.

This is Eliot the umbrella cockatoo, who came to work today. He is very affectionate and also loves attention–when he’s not getting any, he screams. Continuously. He’s actually sitting on my arm in this picture, while I held the camera in the other hand.

The gull chicks on the roof have grown quite a bit since the last time I posted. The chicks are wandering farther from the nest, exploring the rest of the roof while the parents stand nearby. They are strengthening their wings, such as they are at this point, by flapping them about and jumping up on the roof ledge. It’s really fun to watch them.

we had a special visitor at work today–one of the  African penguins from our neighbors at the Aquarium. His name is Roast Beef.  I really really wish I were making that up.

yes, you too can make a wolf puppet! All you need is a mop head, gardening glove, some foam and a bit of fabric.

when I got off the train and came around the corner to the walkway that leads to the parking lot, I startled this little bunny.

like I’m going to walk through these plaster and paper tress and say “oh, it’s just like being in real nature!”

PS.  I got “spoken to” for taking this photo. (This mall is far too pretentious to actually yell at people.) It’s against the rules. It was entirely unclear why.
