I know a lot of people think cemeteries are creepy, but I think they are a lovely place to go for a walk. Even super-Catholic ones, like this, because no one’s trying to force religion down your throat.

scorpions glow turquoise when you shine black light on them! isn’t that cool!? There are a lot of ideas about why this happens but no one’s really sure. at any rate, it’s a handy way to keep an eye out for the little buggers if you’re out walking in the desert at night.

I know there are people who would run over their own grandmother to get to these things for the brief time they appear in stores, but I am not at all one of them. I think they’re pretty nasty.

happy Pi Day! people at work brought in many pies (and one plate of cookies, which, being round, were deemed acceptable). There were 2 meat pies, some chicken pot pie, a turkey pie and also blueberry, chocolate, and pecan. also a box of Boston Cream Pie donuts. 

Doug spit a chicken over the grill tonight. So tasty!  Good thing the grill is in working order, as we will be relying heavily on it once the kitchen is demolished…

my new camera’s color-highlight feature is a lot easier to use than the one on my old camera. Initially, it was the bright colored shirts of both guys that caught my eye, but one of them had removed his jacket and it was in the center of the structure, very distracting. This is a fine compromise.

My friend Mike has taken his show, “Trials of Love,”  to the Charles Playhouse on Saturday nights, and tonight was the opening. Funny funny funny. You should go see it.

I have read Tears of the Giraffe, and it doesn’t deserve this fate. I’ve never read anything by Anthony Trollope, so I can’t speak to that, but I do like the way the table is resting squarely in the center of the woman’s face.

I’m not sure exactly what was happening here. It was some kind of chess club thing. The guy in the middle was playing against all the people sitting down. I’m not sure if they were club members, or if they were strangers to each other. There didn’t seem to be a lot of interaction going on, aside from this guy coming around to take his turn.

we got this plant from my grandmother when she moved out of her condo and in with my mom…10 years ago? something like that. it’s doing remarkably well, even putting out these little fruits on a regular basis. we have no idea what it’s actually called.
