these are one of those candies that was great when you were little and sucks now, like wax lips and candy necklaces. not because your tastes have changed; you just didn’t know any better. 

or at least wires to connect switches to that will turn on lights….eventually.  but hey, it’s progress!

thanks to this weekend’s rain and today’s sun, the azalea in front of the house has exploded.

had a wonderful time having dinner with friends at Fire and Ice, followed by dessert at Finale. I foolishly admitted to the waiter that it was my birthday, expecting all kinds of embarrassing singing. instead, I got this little addition to my pie, which is much classier. and tastier.

We had dinner with Betsy and Loay. And Loay’s dog, who is awesome.

I’ve said it before: I love the notes that my coworkers leave outside my office door.

this is a common merganser. in my office. of course.

not this guy. this is an African bullfrog. it’s big. the person holding him has normal adult-human sized hands, not little kid hands like me. these frogs will eat mice. they have fangs. this is not a frog to screw around with.
