Public Art

I often don’t really “get” art. But I like this. I’m guessing that the artist is trying to make some statement, but I just like the fact that this colorful installation brightens up the bridge.

Doug and I regularly purchase whole beef tongues when they are available at our farm-share pick up. They cost us $2.00. They’re not cured or cooked or anything, but that’s easy to fix. And I whole lot less than $70.

porcelain berries

At the artisans’ fair on the Vineyard, there was a photographer who had a picture of these beautiful multi-colored berries. He said they are called porcelain berries, and they really do some in all these colors and they’re all over the island in the fall. Today, Doug and I spotted some right in Waltham.

not-green beans

We bought some purple long beans at the farmers’ market the other day. They did not turn green upon cooking, which is what happens to the purple variety of regular green beans. One regular green one did sneak into the bundle, though.

Spotted this at the Farmers Market this morning. This stall always has unusual things.

a harsh mistress

We had an astronomy event at work tonight, and while I’m generally not super interested in astronomy, the view of the moon through a telescope was pretty amazing.

It’s the Nesquik bunny! Naturally.
(I’m not too pleased about the legs growing out of his side, but it was the best picture I got today, so there we are.)
