I love finding left-behind bookmarks in library books. Sometimes they’re actual bookmarks like this one (which is still interesting because it’s old), sometimes they’re shopping or to-do lists (those are fun) and sometimes it’s the little receipt you get when you check out books. I like to look at those; I figure, if this person was also interested in this book, maybe I should look into the other books they checked out that day.
I joined Doug at City Hall Plaza when he finished work for the day. There were 14 ice cream vendors, each with 2-5 flavors to choose from (though there were more earlier in the day). My favorite was Campfire Peanut Butter Cup from Tillamook.
Went to the protest on Waltham Common today. It was rainy, but not pouring, so it wasn’t too bad. And my sign survived the wet pretty well, so I was pleased. Several people commented/took pictures, and one couple asked me to explain what the reference is. They weren’t GenX.
Wow. Now I understand why some places are so resistant to re-assigning their bathrooms. I mean, can you imagine how much work it took to do this? At least 10 minutes, easily.
Searching for scrap paper this morning, we came across these…doodles? We decided that had to be from a game of Pictionary. So we’ve got…someone with a sword and shield facing a lion, maybe gladiator? someone with their hair sticking straight out? something I have no idea about; a key; a tractor? I’m guessing the next one means “heavy”; a skier having a crash? a pig with an arrow pointing at its back? a stop sign; a boat inside a boat? and….is that someone using a yo-yo straight out? No idea what most of these are supposed to mean. Please, let me know if you have any thoughts.
Out and about today, I walked by a local gym with their door open to enjoy the lovely weather. And this guy was “guarding” the door. Very important job.
So Doug had a bunch of friends over for a “double-blind” whiskey tasting. Which meant I had to do all the pours, and keep the bottles hidden. Stinky. And then only one person (thanks, Chris!) managed to fill out their score sheet correctly. But listening to them go on like they were speaking another language was very entertaining to me, and they all had a really good time.
One of the rhododendrons in the yard is getting ready to bloom. I kind of like the way they look before they actually do that.
My second shipment of birthday club chocolate came today. In included this beautiful bar of dark, wrapped in a very pretty package that explained a bit about it.
PS It was pretty tasty.
