We had a bunch of pillar candles that we haven’t used in years; one of the partially melted red candles is on the left. So Doug decided to melt them down and make votives, which we use on a regular basis. He melted the candles in a coffee can and then poured the wax into a container to be cutdown and used as needed. You can see the difference in color between the freshly poured wax, and the lighter colored solidified wax.

This is what the fridge looks like the day after Thanksgiving when Doug cooks for 7 people: cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, green beans, squash, roasted root veggies, brussels sprouts, broccoli, and a turkey plus a special vegetarian lasagna for the vegetarian. Plus a charcuterie board for noshing beforehand, and a pecan pie provided by his sister-in-law.
