our floor staff created a fabulous pumpkin for the annual pumpkin pageant.  the competition is usually very stiff, but this is a strong contender

the sugar skull is a traditional decoratiaon for the Day of the Dead.  they represent the sweetness of life and the sadness of death.

last year’s witches’ finger  cookies were such a success,  I decided to make them again. I think the dough is greener than it was last year, but still a decent “moldy corpse” color all the same.

for our special “tornado” themed Bad Movie Night, we made funnel cakes.  Doug did the frying, while Greg and Carlos dusted the finsihed product with powdered sugar.  once they were done, we brought them upstairs and promptly inhaled them.

ah, it’s that time of year, when local artists sneak out in the night and set up their creations all over the place. I expect to see something floating in the channel any day now…

one of my nurses prides herself on being able to decipher doctors’ writing, but she said my doctor’s is just incomprehensible.  I can see that.

so I get on the elevator and a woman scoots in behind me, so I say “where to?”  and she says, “five, please….”

luckily, I am under orders to do some walking around every day, and since I don’t want to or need to be stuck near my room, I am exploring the hospital. a friend suggested this area as a nice goal, and upon arrival, I found it a much more pleasant place to sit and read

there’s a large bike parking “cage” on the MGH campus, and I was happy to see it packed to the gills. there’s this little station on the side where you can hang your bike, fill the tires, and make minor repairs.  pretty cool.

I suppose if you’re going to be stuck in the hospital, this isn’t such a bad view to have
