I was invited to a games night/potluck, and Doug’s out of town, so I thought, why not? It was entertaining, though there were a LOT of people, so we had to play games that could work with so many folks. We played a round of “Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza” and a few rounds of “The Great Dalmoudi.” Good fun.
Bob and Kat had a BBQ this evening. I went inside to use the bathroom, and when I came out, there was a Mouse! While not as rare a sighting as it once was, the Mouse can be hard to spot.
Today an army of landscapers armed with all kinds of tools came to our yard. There’s a lot of plants. Like, a lot. This is only the ones for one side of the house.
This is the first time we have seen our stairs since mid March. They’ve been covered with a protective fabric while the contractors have been going in and out. It’s so close to being finished……
The day lilies are making their return. The orange is not my favorite; I like the daylilies that come in other colors too. But the tiger lilies are stupid easy to care for, reliable and bright and cheerful.
I usually go to the library every 2 weeks or so. Being sick for the last few weeks, I was unable to go, and I was running out. A very kind librarian put some books on hold for me, and a very kind neighbor delivered them. So I had those books, plus the ones I’d had but didn’t return. Took a while to feed them through the cool little return machine.
I read that putting copper in your bird bath can help prevent algae. Doug had a small piece of copper pipe, so we dropped it in, and it seemed to work pretty well. Until a raccoon or a crow or something stole it. So I went to the bank and asked them to dig up some pre-1982 pennies for me, and came back an hour later to see what they got. Hopefully, flat coins are a little harder to pick up than a round pipe.
Since I was sick, I missed the last 2 weeks of my pottery class. I had brought some clay home, and made a few things. The instructor was kind enough to drop off the stuff still in the studio that needed glazing, and picked up the stuff that I had at home that needed to be fired. So we set up our own little “paint your own pottery” table on the back patio.
Our bathroom has a working sink! Huzzah! So we moved all our crap from the downstairs half bath up to this one, and it’s the best thing ever. We have lower standards now.
