Magnetic

Our contractor discovered today that a magnet will stick to the soapstone we’re using in a couple places in our bathroom! How cool is that?? Here, in addition to a bit of paper held down by a magnet, you’re also getting a preview of the floor tiles inside & outside of our new shower.

First

First across the finish line in the remodel of our two bathrooms is: the floor in the green bathroom. There are visible components that have been in place longer (like the tub), but this floor is the first to be in its final, finished form.

Wedges

Our contractor for the bathrooms project is an obsessive detail freak when it comes to tiles. Which is exactly who you want to do your tiling. These clips & wedges are a good way to make sure the tiles are all exactly even with one another at the edges. But I think most guys would not use nearly this many.

Concept of a Window

Two window posts in a row! Such is progress in these things. This window in the Green Bathroom is moving to the right, but is delayed: the building inspector is requiring tempered glass so it had to be reordered. But we need to make progress. So the opening is rough framed to allow drywall to proceed. And the outside is being left alone for now because we’re having Second March here in April and it’s cold out.

Proto window

Aside from a usable (leaning toward luxurious) shower, the change I am most looking forward to in our new primary-suite bathroom is a window for some fresh air and natural light. The guys did the rough framing for it today and I’m unreasonably happy to see it.
