Who says I can’t have a nice breakfast at the office?

I took my last commuter rail ride of the season this evening. I’ve been taking the train since June, but I have to drive in to work tomorrow, and I will commute by car until it’s once again light enough to safely bike to & from the train station. Perhaps by next winter I will have come up with a good way to keep using the train year round, but I didn’t want to push it this year.

It’s not often that we get San Francisco caliber fog in the Boston area.  This morning was an exception.

I personally have been known to be fluent in “Hot Water”.

Romanesco is a close relative of cauliflower, but looks much cooler. And it’s a good vegetable for mathemeticians: Fractals! Logarithms! Fibonacci series!

This device is basically a handheld mini-broiler.  Its purpose is to put a nice sear on food that’s been cooked sous vide (or otherwise didn’t brown properly).  This was a Kickstarter project and mine arrived today — just in time for cooler weather and some nice sous vide cooked meals.

This is where a bunch of Waltham’s water comes from, or at least gets stored for a while.

This is my first new prescription in something like 8 years. The strength is just a minor adjustment, but the astigmatism angle for my left eye has changed, *and* they’re progressive lenses.  This is going to take some getting used to.

Lis got me a GrowlTap for my birthday.  It turns a beer growler into a mini-keg for your fridge — you can keep a growler fresh for much longer than otherwise, and the beer tastes much more like beer from a tap.
