The kitties have discovered this cookbook that has been with my mom for the last 30 years. Just before this, Ferrous was trying to climb the bookcase so I got it down for him. I can’t imagine it still smells like the dog who died in 1993. Maybe there’s a good recipe for tuna juice in there.

My grandmother’s copies of Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking, volumes I & II.
And no, I will not be cooking my way through them in their entirety.

Michael and I walked around and indulged in some photography for photography’s sake on an achingly beautiful day today. Here are my two favorite shots.

Here is Lis, flying our stunt kite. Extreme field of view (and curvature) due to 10.5mm fisheye lens.
Bonus photo: a beautiful shot taken by Kat, with my 500mm mirror lens, from the bow of her B&B sailboat.
I love how the extreme focal lengths (at opposite ends of the scale) are what made these two shots possible, by capturing something different from what the human eye sees.

I went to help pick up Michael at the ferry, and brought the 500mm mirror lens.
Bonus photo: old piling, also with the mirror lens.
