{"id":47,"date":"2012-04-11T20:44:40","date_gmt":"2012-04-11T20:44:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.parkercat.org\/remodel\/2012\/04\/11\/open_space\/"},"modified":"2012-04-11T20:44:40","modified_gmt":"2012-04-11T20:44:40","slug":"open_space","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.parkercat.org\/remodel\/2012\/04\/11\/open_space\/","title":{"rendered":"Open space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we see the full extent of the old kitchen joined with the old sunroom&#8230; yes, the old bearing wall, and the temporary walls taking its slack, are now fully removed.&nbsp; <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/remodel\/DCL_0386.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"DCL_0386.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/remodel\/assets_c\/2012\/04\/DCL_0386-thumb-500x332-5625.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" height=\"332\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<div>The old radiators still have to be taken out, and there are these odd trenches in the floor where the old closet walls were.&nbsp; But still, it&#8217;s a landmark day, the first day we can really get a sense for how this space is going to feel.<\/p>\n<p>Our contractor also spent some time today shoring up the outside wall (the old sink wall), where a previous plumber had compromised six consecutive studs, and only an 1890-style header (i.e. a single &#8212; if full-dimension &#8212; 2&#215;4) supported the wall above the window.
