this tickled my funny bone–usually spray paint like this tells you where you can’t park. This is letting you know that it’s OK. Right here. Because this was the only place on the street marked this way.

back in my day, these only came in black. and in one size! and with only one kind of tip! and we liked it!  

a big thank you to my friend Susan who knitted a pair of mitts for me. My office is freezing in the winter, and these will allow me to get work done in some level of comfort. 

As you’ve probably noticed, candles tend to run out of wick before they run out of wax. So Doug bought some wick, melted down our candle scraps, and made some new candles.

Here’s an X-ray result nobody wants…

spotted this at work yesterday. took me a minute to figure out where it was coming from; there was a prism hanging on the window, and it made me think we should  hang prisms on all the windows.

I can’t imagine these being very effective.

Thanks to a freak snowstorm this weekend, hundreds of thousands of people are without power, including Greg and Jen. They came over tonight for a hot meal, a hot shower, and to charge their various devices.

One of the new Hubway bike stations, right near work. It’s a very cool idea, but I have to say that even if I were an experienced and confident cyclist, I don’t know that I’d want to be biking around the city, especially downtown.
