another insane free day at work has come and gone. this year, we had a whole bunch of outdoor activities going on, all based around a pirate/nautical theme. so we got this statue. which was pretty cool. it was especially fun to watch kids go up and try to touch it, only to have it turn around slowly and wag a finger at them.

it’s nice to be able to watch the town fireworks for the comfort of our air conditioned and bug-free third floor.

the porch is ready for outlets, switches and the like. I hope that soon it is ready for people.
at work today, I helped a colleague lead a top-building workshop. Kids got paper plates of various sizes, pencils and binder clips. Most kids were pretty successful, but this one boy was a top-building genius.
the handful of things that still need to be done are relatively simple things that the pros can do quickly. but they still make a big difference! the pantry has a door now!
so there was a pirate in a very small ship in the channel today. as happens.
this may take a while…
I love that there’s this big hole for the door and framing for the stoop and all this yellow tape….and they’ve still put the welcome mat at where the bottom of the stairs will be (more or less).
