I often make fun of the people of Newton for getting all riled up about really stupid things (a few years ago, Tshirts that said “I went to so-and-so’s bar mitzvah” were banned because other kids would feel bad.)  But…the West Newton Cinema property is an icon, and it’s been sold.  It’s been around since 1938, and operated independently since 1978.  Which is saying something, given the abundance of huge multiplexes.  However, the new owner stated that if a non-profit formed and raised enough money,  he will sell it back.

I don’t even know what to say about this.

Doug and I have been very theatrical this month.  Saw three productions, all excellent.

I hate shopping for shoes.  I have small feet with a very narrow heel,  and I tend to just step right out of shoes unless they’re tied securely. I brought along my assortment of orthotics, because sometimes that improves things, but not today

I love the violets that appear in spring.  Not only do they grow in the yard, but also in the cracks in the driveway, and between the bricks of the patio.

(It appears that I post photos of the violets every few years. Oh well…I do really like them.)

Today we visited The Garden at Elm Bank in Wellesley for their “Tulip Mania” event.  There were just rows and rows of beautiful flowers, and we even got to cut 5 of our own from one of the beds.

Cabot’s in Newton has a “birthday club.”  During the month of your birthday, you can come in once for a free scoop of their delicious ice cream.  I enjoyed mine thoroughly:  black raspberry crunch swirl.   Yum.

Enjoyed today’s weather, sitting outside on the patio, reading a book.  And I guess I was sitting still enough not to spook this little guy.

and local eggs are fresh.  Right?  Well, all these eggs, including the lone white one,  came from the same farm in Hardwick MA.  Which is pretty local.  Turns out, egg shell color comes from the breed of the chicken.  Which means they lied to us!!  Lied!!!  Which makes me wonder, what else did they lie about?

Definitely the most sought after accessory today.  I know a lot of people drove up to Vermont (today!  they’re crazy) to see it in totality, but here in eastern Mass. we’ve got a perfect bright day to watch the sun gradually get smaller.
