{"id":890,"date":"2013-06-30T20:46:02","date_gmt":"2013-06-30T20:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.parkercat.org\/doug365\/2013\/06\/30\/whistler_monday\/"},"modified":"2013-06-30T20:46:02","modified_gmt":"2013-06-30T20:46:02","slug":"whistler_monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.parkercat.org\/doug365\/2013\/06\/30\/whistler_monday\/","title":{"rendered":"Whistler, Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, I skied with the big camera.&nbsp; With smaller crowds and a clear day, it seemed the logical choice.<\/p>\n<p>I awoke before dawn and noticed the holiday lights on our condo playing on the icicles outside our windows.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1444-7059.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1444-thumb-700x464-7059.jpg\" alt=\"DCL_1444.JPG\" class=\"mt-image-none\" height=\"464\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<div>&nbsp;<br \/>Here&#8217;s the view out our condo windows once the sun started to come up. We were near the lower end of the village walk, by the Whistler Olympic Plaza skating rink. I belive this is where they held some of the medal ceremonies at the 2010 Winter Olympics. You can see that we have a little fog \/ undercast on an otherwise clear day.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1445-7062.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1445-thumb-700x464-7062.jpg\" alt=\"DCL_1445.JPG\" class=\"mt-image-none\" height=\"464\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<br \/>Here&#8217;s that undercast from the other side. The building is the top of the Glacier Express lift on Blackcomb mountain, as seen from near the Horstman hut and the Blackcomb summit.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1462-7065.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1462-thumb-700x464-7065.jpg\" alt=\"DCL_1462.JPG\" class=\"mt-image-none\" height=\"464\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>We had lunch at the Horstman hut, and here&#8217;s the view in the other direction, from our table on the deck.&nbsp; You can see some ski slopes on Whistler in the foreground, with the aptly named Black Tusk mountain behind.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1470-7068.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1470-thumb-700x464-7068.jpg\" alt=\"DCL_1470.JPG\" class=\"mt-image-none\" height=\"464\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<br \/>After lunch Kat, Michael, and I skied Blackcomb Glacier, a 6-mile run that starts with an enormous bowl. That&#8217;s Michael to me left in this fisheye shot, and the two specks near the right side of the frame are Kat and an unidentified skier. The boulders jutting in a line into the center of the shot are car-sized.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1486-7071.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1486-thumb-700x464-7071.jpg\" alt=\"DCL_1486.JPG\" class=\"mt-image-none\" height=\"464\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>We all stopped for a photo op at the bottom of the bowl section.&nbsp; Only another 5 miles to the lift!<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1489-7075.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/06\/DCL_1489-thumb-700x464-7075.jpg\" alt=\"DCL_1489.JPG\" class=\"mt-image-none\" height=\"464\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Skiing the glacier was fun.
