I&#8217;m turning this space into a small closet with shelves in our foyer, with a built-in bench below it.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/01\/DCL_1328-6780.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/01\/DCL_1328-thumb-700x464-6780.jpg\" alt=\"DCL_1328.JPG\" class=\"mt-image-none\" height=\"464\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<div>&nbsp; <br \/>In two Saturdays of work so far, I have cut and re-framed the rough opening, patched a hole in the side of the chimney, cut off an old abandoned gas-light pipe, moved some wires out of the way, cased the opening, and built &amp; installed a door.&nbsp; I also put up new coat hooks since I had to take down the old ones.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/01\/DCL_1335-6783.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parkercat.org\/doug_project_365\/assets_c\/2013\/01\/DCL_1335-thumb-700x464-6783.jpg\" alt=\"DCL_1335.JPG\" class=\"mt-image-none\" height=\"464\" width=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Many more steps to come, which I&#8217;ll update here as I make progress.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 5, 2012 During our kitchen remodel, we discovered that there is a hollow beside our chimney.
