Back in action

I sent my macro lens to Nikon for repair, since I could no longer manually focus it. They found a ton of parts to replace, fortunately for the originally quoted price. Here’s a close-up — with the repaired lens, of course — of part of the repair description. Seems to be working just fine.

July 4th

Newton puts on a pretty good fireworks show, and it’s just a short distance from our house. But this year both of us have to work tomorrow so we elected to stay home. Fortunately we can see (and certainly smell) the show at least somewhat from our front porch.

Boston evening

Some of my coworkers didn’t really understand what it would mean to work in downtown Boston. This evening some of us went to the Trillium beer garden on the Greenway, then I had a lovely walk over to meet up with Lis for the trip home. Ahh, *that’s* why you people were excited to move.

Pig

I treated myself to a salt pig, handmade from Etsy, to make application of salt during cooking more convenient. I had tried out the concept with a functional-but-ugly jar & scoop on the counter, and found it much better than keeping salt in a cabinet.
