This is the first wild turkey I’ve seen in our neighborhood. I know they’re generally common in the Boston area, but we haven’t had them here. Until now.
I almost always take some variant of this picture on the Vineyard. The light is great, the colors and textures are nice, and the buildings, sea, and sky form an attractive composition. And it’s just about always ruined by that stupid DirecTV dish.
The garden in front of this year’s vacation rental has these striking purple flowers. I soon realized these are artichokes, and this is what they look like when nobody harvests them.
If you’ve been to Oak Bluffs, you’ll immediately recognize where this photo was taken: it’s been our tradition for many years to have our vacation’s first dinner at Offshore Ale House.
