Salad bar at home

We like to keep salad makings around as part of a balanced diet.  It’s only fairly recently that Lis had the good idea of keeping the components separate, so that we can each make our own salad, and the cucumbers going bad does not ruin everything else.

Parker has found quite a comfortable spot.

He’s lying on my arm & chest, as I am lying on the couch.  Today’s picture is taken with the netbook’s webcam.

The problem is that I can’t get up to feed him — or me!

You know it’s been a long day after a busy weekend when on a Monday evening the thing you’ve been looking forward to for the past few hours is getting into the car and listening to some CarTalk or In the Loop.

Breakfast for dinner

Rachel, Lis, and I went to Death By Chocolate last night near BU, a one-man show put on by one of Lis’s former coworkers.

For some reason Winnie discovered the bottom shelf of the telephone table this evening.

Blood oranges have more flavor than normal oranges, and are slightly startling to open if you’re not expecting that color inside.  Their extra flavor is nice in a salad, particularly if you make the dressing with some zest and the juice from a few of the segments.

On a fairly regular basis people bring in food and put it in our lunch room.  Not often, though, is it two entire boxes of donuts.  These were courtesy of one of our sales guys.

We use MythTV to record all of our TV.  One nice thing is that I can stream my TV shows to my desktop PC or even the laptop, meaning I don’t have to be at the TV in order to watch something.  Tonight I was able to chat with people over IM and read my email while I watched This Old House.

Roasted beets!

This paltry amount of food, believe it or not, was 3 good-sized beets when they went into the oven an hour ago.  Now they are like candy… candy that’s actually good for you.
