This morning, when workers dropped ropes & cables down the outside of my building, it startled me a bit. But when they hoisted a platform and started using power tools and what sounded like a dentist’s drill right outside, I was glad for the noise-cancelling headphones.
Arrgh!
Hey Quincy, Thanksgiving comes first!
This morning’s task was finishing up the leaves.
We had to get done before going to see Avenue Q this afternoon.
Today was the day to pick up our Thanksgiving turkey. It’s a completely free-range turkey, having come from Chestnut Farms, whose meat CSA we are starting up with soon.
The moon & clouds cooperated for a nice sunset this evening.
The winter moths are out in force in Newton. This picture is of the outside of one of our living room windows.
This does not bode well for our trees come spring.
There was quite a heavy frost on the local ballfield this morning.
My Christmas Thanksgiving cactus in my office at work is about to bloom. I’ll post again later when it has actual flowers. I brought this plant to the office when we were showing the house, and have kept it there because it’s doing well.
My coworker Margaret is excited about this because she has a Christmas cactus that never bloomed, until I told her the secret — they need to be by a window so they get cool at night. You can even turn them so non-blooming parts get cool, and then they will bloom in sequence.
I made a big batch of pea soup tonight for tomorrow’s dinner (and for the freezer). No pressure-cooker cheating here — this one is still simmering in the oven.
We celebrated Ali’s birthday today at House of Blues in Boston, at Gospel Brunch. It was a lot of fun.
