We were treated to an excellent Independence Day fireworks display today.  Most of my shots came out defocused due to technical difficulties.  But this one was just too interesting to pass up.

Kat’s birthday, while not the milestone of Bob’s a few days ago, was nonetheless an excellent excuse to get together and eat at a nice restaurant, this time on the roof deck of Daedalus in Harvard Square.

Our basement windows were leaky, rotting wood.  Now they are modern double-pane vinyl.

This shot is of a single word in a magazine, taken with one SLR lens reversed in front of another.

I have ordered a stacking ring to help with this sort of shot, so you’re likely to see more of it in the future.

Kebabs for dinner. Vidalia onion plays a major part.

A group of us met at Sushi-Teq downtown, outdoors on the patio, to celebrate Bob’s birthday.  I was among the early arrivals, the others of whom were Kat and Nancy.

We had a landscaper in to pull up some overgrown foundation plantings and trim back the tree limbs that were actually touching our house.  We also had him limb up our other trees, and now our back yard has actual light.

Crucially, the swing is still in shade for most of the day.

This is a good year for everyone’s hydrangea.  I fed ours with acid-loving-plant food, and they’re doing quite well.

I attended a wedding as Kris’s date at Hammond Castle today.  The wedding cake was nearly as spectacular as the setting.

In this week’s hot weather, a coworker of mine remembered that the fridge in our break room has an ice maker.  We cleaned it out of the fossilized ice earlier in the week, and today we made iced coffee.

As my coworker Andy said… “I just saved myself $3.50!”
