In an effort to dress up our dining room, I’m installing rail and stile wainscoting. Here you see the basic flat stock and chair rail installed.![]()
Wind hold
This is what happens at Sugarloaf when all but 3 of the lifts are closed due to wind hold. Thanks to some quick thinking my Michael and me, we did some hiking to get to deserted terrain and had a grand old adventure regardless. That’s Michael on the left, and the line for the T-bar on the right.![]()
Bonus picture: This is what happens when I decide to pack it in for the day at lunch.![]()

Doorway
For some unknown reason, this doorway in our dining room was framed out in flat stock rather than the typical fancier stuff usually seen in a Victorian. Since I’m doing a minor project in the dining room, now is the time to fix it. The hardest part is avoiding doing too much damage to the old plaster.
Moulding
I finally made it to the moulding shop in Braintree I’ve been talking about. I bought some supplies to do a minor remodel of our dining room. Here’s a vignette of the type of wainscoting I’ll be installing — minus the Chippendale side table.![]()

Snowshoeing
There’s one thing to be said for 2 feet of snow on the ground: the snowshoeing is excellent, even in an inner suburb of a major US city. Lis and I went to a park along the Charles in Newton Lower Falls. This bench is not currently among the world’s most ergonomic.
