I installed new lighting fixtures near the stairs on all 3 levels today, ones that will take LED bulbs. Since we leave these on quite a bit this should save us some electricity.  The color temperature is a little higher than I would have liked, but given they’re in hallways they’ll do just fine. And now that we have enough light in our foyer it’s clear I need to paint in here!

I attended a wedding today, one of Lis’s coworkers. They had this make-your-own wedding favor table, which I thought was a really cool idea.

I was a little concerned it would be too ornate, but I think this ceiling medallion looks just right — and does indeed serve to conceal a much less attractive surface-mount electrical box.

Guess we did get a lot of rain this week: these guys are popping up everywhere.

Around this time last year, we lost our Winnie kitty. I have been saving the last of this bottle of scotch to drink in her honor. She was indeed a gentle spirit and is sorely missed.

I divided some hostas today. I’m sure this week’s rain will help them settle into their new spot.

Landcaping marks the completion of many a construction project.

I am now officially done painting the front porch.

I took some pictures of flower urns at Home Depot to show Lis so we can decide on one for our front walk (hint: not these).  I think it’s hilarious that they come with “age” features like fake cracks — if my flower urn were cracked I’d get a new one!

Despite the fact I don’t really like “smelly” flowers and they last such a short time, I am really fond of lilac.
