The Pie Fairy delivered a giant apple pie to our ski condo overnight.

Not 30,000 lbs of bananas, but we did get quite a bunch from Boston Organics this week.

Armagnac and girl scout cookies. Works surprisingly well.

Red flashing lights on our street: one of our neighbors not having a good evening.

Someone came to our front door during the night.

We have so much snow, even the juncos are confused: they usually come to the feeders before a snowstorm.

Yesterday I did my civic duty and gained access to our storm drain in advance of the predicted rain. This morning Lis and I did some civil engineering (otherwise known as chipping & digging) to get it to actually flow properly. Now if only our neighbor would do the same with the area’s fire hydrant.

The “Boom Town” bitters that a friend gave me make for a very good godfather cocktail. Wintergreen and sarsparilla flavors go well with the amaretto. (Yes, that’s a very small bottle of bitters and a very large brandy snifter.)

Did builders of Victorian homes (120 years ago) pay more attention to sun angles & wind directions than is done now? Or is it that only those houses which (by design or luck) tend to shed snow in a big storm have survived this long?
