Plaster repair
Before you can repair cracks in an old horsehair plaster wall, you have to enlarge the cracks back to solid material so the new plaster has somewhere to bind to.
Either that or a monster with very sharp claws has broken into our house.
Proto-dinner
At 8:30 pm tonight I remembered I was supposed to cook rice and black beans for tomorrow’s dinner (Flautas, though more burrito-like than those pictured) tonight. Good thing I remembered!

Paint
I painted the bedroom this weekend. Last weekend, I repaired some plaster cracks. This weekend was wallpaper border removal, spackling of defects, and paint.
We think the cream may need to be toned down to be more Vermont and less Jersey for the green to really look nice in this room.
Porch planning
We’re trying to decide if, as part of rebuilding our front porch, we want to narrow the steps. I made some mockups today, which first required me to take a picture of the front of the house.
Here’s what it might have looked like had they built the stairs narrower 25 years ago:

Well, they’ll be pickles in a week or so.

What went through my mind as I moved stuff into the garage was “Nice hammock swing you got there… be a shame if anything happened to it.”
Meat inventory
Belonging to a meat CSA means it’s important to track what cuts we have in the freezer downstairs. This list lives on the fridge. The giant pork chop is for Friday.
Days of Wine and Chocolate
Still my favorite dessert: red wine and dark chocolate. My cardiologist (if I had one) would be thrilled.
