New lens

I bought a new lens for our upcoming trip. It’s a macro lens, making the kind of closeup shots you’ve seen here in the past much easier. Today’s main picture is as close as it will go by itself (1:1):

Today’s bonus picture is this 85mm lens with a 35mm lens reversed in front of it, leading to a magnification of 2.4x, without the vignetting that affected my earlier shots using stacked lenses.

Feast

I cooked a middle-eastern-themed feast for dinner tonight.  From left to right that’s homemade hummus, homemade baked kibbee, and falafel from a mix. Served with salad, pita, and a beer, the result was delicious.

Sorted eggs

We get most of our eggs from the farm that does our meat CSA.  They put a variety of sizes in each carton, rather than sorting into the traditional medium, large, x-large, etc. This can be an issue for baking, so I generally weigh & sort the eggs. You’ll note the largest (88 grams) is twice the weight of the smallest!

Brewing

It’s been far too long since I’ve brewed beer. I’ve ordered a couple of kits to ease back into it. What we have here is ingredients for an extract-brewed Breakfast Stout (oatmeal cream stout w/ coffee) and for a partial-mash Belgian Tripel. We’ll brew one or the other of these the day after Thanksgiving.
