Doorway
For some unknown reason, this doorway in our dining room was framed out in flat stock rather than the typical fancier stuff usually seen in a Victorian. Since I’m doing a minor project in the dining room, now is the time to fix it. The hardest part is avoiding doing too much damage to the old plaster.
Moulding
I finally made it to the moulding shop in Braintree I’ve been talking about. I bought some supplies to do a minor remodel of our dining room. Here’s a vignette of the type of wainscoting I’ll be installing — minus the Chippendale side table.

Snowshoeing
There’s one thing to be said for 2 feet of snow on the ground: the snowshoeing is excellent, even in an inner suburb of a major US city. Lis and I went to a park along the Charles in Newton Lower Falls. This bench is not currently among the world’s most ergonomic.
[Note: yes, I’m 10 days behind in posting this photo, and we have much less snow now.]
Bottling Day
I bottled the Happy Monk today. 50 bottles, 8.6% alcohol by volume.
