We’re hosting a New Years Brunch tomorrow, and today I’m pre-making waffles. This antique iron makes excellent waffles, but it takes 5 minutes per waffle, which is just too long for a crowd.  They’re not quite the same re-heated, but still tasty.

I am officially re-starting my Project 365 for 2012!  I took and posted one picture a day for all of 2009, then in 2010 & 2011 took only significant or interesting photos.  What I found is that I took fewer and fewer photos over the course of 2 years, and that the periods I tended to skip were stressful or busy times — when I really could use the distraction and should be documenting my experience for my own well-being and for the sense of connection to those who follow my posts.

Anyway… I am 2 days early, but am getting back into the rhythm.  Today’s shot is yet more proof that it’s Time To Remodel our Kitchen — this is our silverware drawer, newly repaired by me to actually go back into its slot and not drop all its contents into the drawer below.

This photo was taken November 25, 2011, and is the last known photo of Parker before his death today, December 5, 2011.

Lis’s mom is moving, and has kindly allowed us to take this family heirloom — a 6-panel barrister bookcase — into our care.

There’s only one thing better than a pie…

 
…and that’s two pies! These are the turkey & sage variety.

My gas station receipt today is an anagram for Leet speak. Pwn’d!

I picked up our CSA turkey today. I hope 21 pounds is enough for 6 people.

It was slightly alarming this morning when I set the arm of my bathrobe on fire, browning some beef for the crock pot. No harm done except this brown patch on the robe.

We have a couple of cans of whipped cream left over still from the ice cream sundae bar at an event at work.

 
It’s just not the same without the Jameson.
