The city replaced the streetlights on our street with LEDs today. (And it’s our light pole and the guy’s bucket truck that are crooked, not my photo.)

Roofers picked today, the start of a stretch of the hottest weather so far this year, to start replacing the roof on historic Quincy City Hall.  I’m sure they were thrilled to find a 2nd layer of older, browner shingles underneath.

Daylilies are putting on quite a show this year.

Do you see the difference between these flooring nails? No? Evidently neither did the employee who rented me a flooring nailer last weekend: the one in back is the wrong size for the nailer. No wonder it was prone to jam and ultimately broke. The thinner nails worked much better today, and the floor is now fully installed.

No no, it’s safe to look at, I promise!

I’m taking bike & train to work these days, and once I’m not wearing it my helmet does a good job protecting my breakfast inside my bag.

Our lawn is being overrun by clover.  I could not be more pleased.

We had goldfinches by the dozen at the old house’s birdfeeder. But these are the first we’ve seen here. I’m hoping they stick around.

Flooring is about half down, by area. Today involved going to rent the nailer and a learning curve, but tomorrow will involve more cuts.

I installed the first row of flooring this evening, and laid out a first pass at a random stagger pattern. The rest will wait until I rent a flooring nailer this weekend.
