Fire pit

We’re breaking in our new propane-powered fire pit on our patio this evening. We figure this is a good way to extend the Socially Distanced BBQ season.

Engineer Fail

Our cats have a fountain water dish to drink from, because… cats. It has a little electric pump that, a few times over the years, has stopped moving water. Fortunately it’s a $9 part so we’ve just replaced it several times.

This last time, once the replacement arrived, I decided to take one of the old ones apart to see what goes wrong. As it turns out, they come apart easily without tools, and what’s wrong is that they get dirty and need cleaning.

So now we have 3 spares.

Misty morning

We got out for one last paddle early this morning before heading home. I think this is the same wood duck from yesterday’s photo.

How much wood

How much wood would a wood duck duck if a wood duck could duck wood?

Northern Water Snake

The highlight of our hike today was seeing this Northern Water Snake. It let us observe it for a while. Then, true to its name, it swam off into the marshy waters.

Army of Duckness

Lis and I went for a paddle on the Charles near Millennium Park today. Click through for a link to the whole gallery.

These ducks look like they’re preparing for battle.
