Today I bought a new “big-boy” camera (a Nikon D500) to replace/supplement my old one (D300), which at 8 years old has been surpassed technologically in a number of areas.  Therefore, today I must post the obligatory cat photo taken with the new camera.

For my photographer friends: this a JPEG straight out of camera with no edits, taken at ISO 5600. Click through (and click on the photo) to see the full-size image. The lack of noise at this ISO is most gratifying.

This is so much more pleasant than incessant beeping at 3am.

Even after cutting off the pointy bits prior to cooking, it’s amazing how much of an artichoke you don’t eat.

Our office admin keeps us well stocked in snack foods, and I manage to avoid most of them. But these are just too tempting.

Some blankets have tails

Like Kat, I spent my REI dividend this year on a new pannier. I ride my bike to the train station, so whatever I carry has to function equally well for both modes. Last year I modified an old swag briefcase (see my entry on the subject), and that worked well but it’s worn out. The new one is designed for purpose, mounts angled forward for better heel clearance, and is much more durable and waterproof.

I was out for drinks & dinner with friends last night. I wonder if the bar sells a lot of these cocktails at 4:20.

Ah, spring in New England: we ate mussels while enjoying the evening breezes yesterday. Today? Beef stew.
