Like Kat, I spent my REI dividend this year on a new pannier. I ride my bike to the train station, so whatever I carry has to function equally well for both modes. Last year I modified an old swag briefcase (see my entry on the subject), and that worked well but it’s worn out. The new one is designed for purpose, mounts angled forward for better heel clearance, and is much more durable and waterproof.
