I was so annoyed at the smoke detector near the kitchen tonight (“it’s not a a fire, it’s just homemade pizza, you stupid thing!”) that I flung it onto the floor to dislodge its batteries.
Fortunately we have a spare.

Those of you who have been to our old house in Southboro probably remember the cat step in the office. I made this step so that our cats could get to the window sill and sniff the world in the good weather, but as it turns out they both liked to just sit on it.
Recently, Parker has taken to occupying our office chairs — if he could sit on both at the same time, I think he would. This makes it somewhat inconvenient to use the office. So I reinstalled the step in our new office, hoping he would use it instead. It sometimes works, as seen here.
More often, though, it’s Winnie who occupies the step, and Parker continues to claim an office chair.

My breakfast tangerine today had 42 seeds in it — so many that it made it somewhat difficult to eat.

We picked up the first share from our meat CSA today. Here we have what we’ll be eating from it this week: two bone-in chicken breasts and some ground beef & lamb.

We helped my mother in law move into her new apartment in Worcester today. The apartment is nice, and the woodwork has these cool art-deco-ish corner blocks.

Yes, I’m posting about food again… must mean I didn’t get a good picture today.
These bones are left over from a 1/2 rack of baby back ribs that went into tonight’s dinner. Yum!

This is a picture of my open sunroof. I kept it open all the way home tonight. Why? Because as I am typing this it is STILL 60 degrees outside, and at commute time it was even warmer. Of course, it’s supposed to snow on Saturday.
(Yes, we’re inside the garage. I couldn’t very well take the picture outside or the winter moths would have attacked me.)

There was some meeting in my office today (in which I was not involved, thankfully) for which they ordered lunch. I guess it was cheaper to get a Party Pack from our local Falafel King than to do individual orders. But it was enough food to feed an army — the rest of us chowed down on the leftovers — stuffed grape leaves, falafel balls, salad, and of course hummus. Have you ever seen 5 pounds of hummus in one container before?
It was good too — made right there in the store.
