November 10

I was working from home today — car in the shop — and took the opportunity to roast the beet left over from the last Boston Organics delivery.  This evening I grated the roasted beet, mixed it with goat cheese, ricotta, and a little basil, and made ravioli.

This is the first time I’ve made ravioli, and they’re for my dinner tomorrow night.  I hope they come out all right!

I’m not doing a theme this week; back to normal old pictures.

Lis and I hauled the trash & recycle containers out to the curb last night.  This morning, I took out the kitchen trash to add to it, and realized (much to my environmentalist delight) that there was nothing else in the big blue bin — we’d gone an entire week and generated only half a small bag of trash.

Lis and I went out to dinner tonight, to Tuscan Grill on Moody St in Waltham.  I had the rabbit cacciatore and a Caesar salad.  The food was good; the lighting was not.  Apologies for the truly horrible image quality; I sometimes forget how spoiled I am with the big camera when it comes to low-light pictures.

Wine tasting at Jeff & Andrea’s.  We’re tasting Malbecs tonight.  Kat (with her entry) hasn’t arrived yet.  We selected the Crios as the winner, possessing the most balanced flavor — fruit-forward, with a touch of earthy or mineral content, and neither too acidic nor too sweet.  The Budini was dubbed “Manischewitz” for the evening, too sweet and fruity in comparison with the others.

Hours theme: 9 am

Today was election day in Newton — we elected a new mayor (results not yet in).  Our polling place — walking distance from the house, very convenient — also had a bake sale to benefit the 5th grade of our local school.  I bought a slice of pumpkin bread for my breakfast, to go along with the tea I usually make at this hour.  My office has a lot of late-starting people, so 9am is a good time for me to get things done before the hordes arrive.

November 2

I am going to try a theme this week.  The theme is “hours” — I will take a picture every two hours on sequential days — so today’s is at 7 am, tomorrow’s will be at 9 am, etc., until I have finished the week.

7 am — getting ready to leave
for work.  I have my lunch, my coffee, and my briefcase (into which I’m
putting my netbook), and have grabbed the bag of leftover Halloween candy for the
office.
