Wow, that’s a GREAT shot. I assume you took that with a “real” camera? Because I don’t think my little Canon PowerShot would have done it justice.
Yes, the big camera, with my 18-70mm lens plus a 1.4x teleconverter. The heron took off unexpectedly, and I didn’t have time to put the camera into continuous shooting mode, so I just kept mashing the shutter, keeping it half-pressed between shots so it would continue to track focus on the bird. It’s situations like this where the big camera excels, giving you the speed and control you need to not miss the moment. Besides this shot (which is cropped a bit for composition), there were 7 or 8 shots that did not come out nearly as well.
