Most of the foundation plantings around our house are pretty overgrown.  Over the weekend I severely pruned one of the holly bushes (the non-prickly variety, thankfully.  This one is in the back of the house, and I picked it for practice.  It had been pretty badly abused in the past (pruning with hedge trimmers, which just promotes surface branching & growth). I think I removed about half the bush.

We got some new fish for the fish tank today — we had lost some fish in the move, and the water has just recently returned to a reasonable chemistry.

The fish in the front is a zebra danio, and the blurry ones in the back are pristella tetras.

I mowed the lawn today for the first time in 3 weeks — it really needed it.  What this meant is that the subject of the following picture was very visible.

This is a path worn in the lawn by some sort of animal — my guess is our neighborhood fox on his rounds.  If I had a motion sensor setup for my camera, I’d give it a try.

We had homemade pizza for dinner.  We pre-made the dough last night in the bread machine, keeping it in the fridge overnight — it develops great flavor that way.  But I guess the container I chose was a little too small: by this morning, it was trying to escape.

I originally bought this french press because I wanted an occasional cup of coffee for the drive to work, and I didn’t want to haul out the big coffeemaker.

Over a year later, I’m still using it for that purpose — not every day, but frequently. I’ve gotten pretty good at it.

This is my iPod.  Through inattention on my part, it ran out of podcasts on my drive in to work this morning.  This made me sad — I had to listen to radio, and there is no good radio in the mornings in Boston anymore.
